Close to a 100 people turned up on Sunday 22 September and took to the streets of Hemel Hempstead to run their town to support what matters locally.

The ‘Your Town’ initiative led by Dacorum Borough Council in partnership with Your Town aims to encourage people to live healthy lives, get more engaged in their local community and make them proud of where they live.  They did just that and together raised over £800 for the Council’s chosen charities DENS and Sunnyside Rural Trust.

The route involved a 5k loop around Hemel Hempstead’s town centre, including running through Gadebridge Park and the Hemel Water Gardens. The Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Terry Douris opened the event and handed out medals to the runners.

Julie Banks, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services said: “What a fantastic, well planned and executed event. This would not have been possible without volunteers and organisations coming together to work with us in partnership to put on such an event for the residents of Dacorum.”

The event’s team of volunteers brought a huge energy and positivity to the course ensuring everyone had a safe and enjoyable run. Everyone Active provided a group warm up prior to the run and entertainment throughout.
