CBT, recognised as an effective treatment for many mental health conditions, including depression and anxiety disorders, is one of several new benefits added to the plan including an exciting online Personal health risk assessment, dental trauma and chiropody.
Dental benefits have effectively more than doubled with the dental benefit being increased by an average of 18% on levels 1 and 2, and the introduction of a dental trauma benefit. As one of the most popular benefits, the optical benefit has also been increased by an average of 31% on levels 1, 2 and 3.
The changes mean that the plan now offers an Employee Assistance Programme including CBT as a core benefit and, with a stand-alone scanning service and consultation benefit the plan offers a comprehensive diagnostic service.
These far-reaching improvements to the plan have been added without any increase in corporate premiums on levels 1 and 2.
The plan is provided by Westfield Health as the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) official health cash plan supplier and is available exclusively to BCC accredited and affiliated chambers.
Westfield Health Chief Executive Jill Davies said: “These improvements demonstrate that, working together with the BCC, we are responding to developments in both the healthcare and employee benefit markets. We recognise that employers are looking for a sustainable plan with innovative benefits that will help to recruit and retain staff, improve productivity, staff morale and motivation.
“Westfield’s experience has enabled us to create a plan high in value with fresh new benefits and improved terms at no additional cost on levels 1 and 2. This is the kind of reassurance employers are looking for in these difficult times.”
Jill explained that, due to underwriting reasons, it has been necessary to increase level 3 corporate premiums by just 80p per employee, per week - the first increase since 2007. A new fourth level of cover has also been introduced in response to employer requests for a higher level of cover with increased benefits.
The new Online Personal Health Risk Assessment gives employees and their resident family members the opportunity to complete an online assessment to show how their lifestyle impacts on their health and the risk of them developing major diseases such as cancer or coronary heart disease. The process will also support them to take action to reduce any identified risks.
The aggregated and anonymised results can then be presented in an electronic Company Health Report, which will give employers greater clarity on the health profile of their workforce. It also presents an opportunity to use the information to take preventative action in those areas of greatest concern, to improve the health of their employees, reduce absence and so boost the health of the business.
Additional modules of cover are also available to purchase - Surgery Choices, which provides employees with cover for up to 60 non-urgent surgical procedures, and For Kids, which provides routine health cover for employees’ dependent children.
The improved Chamber Primary Health Plan is now available for new sales. All existing Chamber Plan companies will be contacted in due course and will be able to transfer to the new plan at their anniversary date.
David Riches, Director of Operations, British Chambers of Commerce, said: “For many of our member organisations, the Chamber Plan is already a real asset. Now with these excellent improvements to the plan we are sure that The British Chambers of Commerce and Westfield Health have together produced a really outstanding absence, risk management and recruitment tool as well as a very affordable employee benefit.
“We have worked in partnership with Westfield for the last 10 years and we are delighted to continue working together to offer this innovative and exclusive healthcare plan.”
