Welwyn Garden City will host a stage finish of the UK's first ever elite road cycling stage race for women on Saturday 10 May 2014.
Around 100 of the world's best female cyclists are set to take part in The Women's Tour including double Olympic champion, Laura Trott, who began her racing career with the Welwyn Wheelers.
The race takes place over five days from 7-11 May, beginning in Northamptonshire and finishing in Suffolk. Highlights are being shown on ITV4 each evening.
Stage 4 of the race takes place on Saturday 10 May. It begins in Cheshunt and ends in Welwyn Garden City.
Cyclists are expected to enter Welwyn village from 1.41pm before climbing Digswell Hill, one of 10 Queen of the Mountains climbs in the overall race. They will take a left up Brockswood Lane then wind round The Campus, a semi-circle at the heart of the town centre, before hitting the finishing straight on Parkway at around 1.50pm.
Full details of the stage route and estimated timings can be found here.
Everything kicks off in the town centre from 10am on Saturday 10 May. In addition to the excitement of the race itself, visitors can spend time in six different 'zones' - all a stone's throw from the finish line and The Campus which will offer great spectator views.
All the zones will be in and around Howardsgate, the wide road that leads from Parkway to the Howard Centre and train station. Here's a taste of what's in store:
