The Overtures will be returning to the Spotlight, Hoddesdon, for an explosive one night only show on Saturday 27 April at 8pm.
Based in North London and Hertfordshire, The Overtures were formed in 1989. Their line-up consists of founders Den Pugsley on bass and lead vocals and Steve Phypers on drums and vocals, plus Jamie Cook on guitar and lead vocals, and Chris Skornia on keyboard and vocals. 2019 commences 30 years that this unforgettable band has been wowing audiences all over the world.
The Overtures have been firm favourites for the corporate event circuit, performing for the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, the late Sir David Frost, Elvis Costello, Lulu and many more. In an interview with GQ magazine after The Overtures performed at the celebration of Sir Elton John’s civil partnership with David Furnish, he said “This band is amazing. They’re the best band of their kind in the world.” Other notable appearances have included live television performances backing Lionel Ritchie and the late Robin Gibb of The Bee Gees.
The Overtures present a faithful and dynamic tribute to pop’s greatest and best-known decade. With their magnificent repertoire of songs, they have rapidly built their reputation as the finest tribute band in the world. Members of the public can enjoy every aspect of sixties music from the early ‘Merseybeat’ of The Beatles and The Searches, through to the ‘Surf’ sound of The Beach Boys – the close harmony of Simon and Garfunkel to the raw power of The Who.
