The Summer Holidays 2019 edition of The Guide youth brochure has just been published, promoting a whole host of positive activities for young people to do over the summer in Broxbourne.

Highlights include the Lark in the Park summer sports programme taking place every week at Grundy Park (Monday), Cedars Park (Tuesday), Cheshunt Park (Wednesday), Barclay Park (Thursday) and Fishers Close (Friday). Each session runs from 2-4pm.

Skatejams will be held at Cheshunt Park (Wednesday 7 August, 4-7pm) and Pound Close (Friday 9 August, 2-5pm) for young people to show off their skills on skateboards, scooters, skates and bikes. The Pound Close event will also consult on improvements to the existing skatepark. For those wanting to learn new skills, a skatecamp will run at Cheshunt Park from 10am-12noon from Monday 5 August to Friday 9 August.

Other projects this summer include Art & Wellbeing workshops every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout August in Wormley & Turnford, additional youth multi-sports at Old Highway Recreation Ground and Cheshunt Park and the Positive Alternatives programme delivered by YC Hertfordshire. There will also be a football match between the police and young people on Thursday 22 August at the Laura Trott Leisure Centre astroturfs.

The Council’s programme of free weekly youth activities will continue throughout the summer including Friday Night Football on the Astroturf at the Laura Trott Leisure Centre from 6-8pm, Youth Sport Night at the John Warner Sports Centre every Friday from 8-9pm, and multi-sport sessions at Multi-Use Games Areas in Grundy Park on Mondays from 6-8pm, Wormley on Tuesdays from 4-6pm and Holdbrook on Wednesday from 5.30-7.30pm.
