What: Nick Carbone completes Edinburgh Marathon and then cycles 400 miles back to Broxbourne
When: 31st May – 2nd June 2015
A supporter of Teens Unite, Nick Carbone has gone the extra mile, quite literally, to raise funding and awareness for the charity.
On 31st May, Nick, Cheshunt completed the 26.2 mile race course at the Edinburgh Marathon wearing a dinosaur costume in a time of six hours, six minutes.
Testing himself even further, Nick then jumped on the saddle of his bike and departed from the Scottish city to cycle a gruelling 400 miles down south. His challenge was to reach his final destination; the Teens Unite Respite Home, within just 48 hours.
Stopping overnight in York, Nick then set off early on the morning of 2nd June and arrived in Broxbourne at approximately 9:50pm to be greeted by a crowd of his supportive friends and family who cheered him across the finish line.
Teens Unite’s CEO and Founder, Debbie Pezzani was there upon Nick’s arrival to congratulate him on his incredible achievement. She has said: “When Nick first approached Teens Unite and told us about the challenge he was going to do, we couldn’t believe it. We honestly didn’t think it was possible, but clearly it was!
“What he has achieved is amazing and from all of the staff at Teens Unite and the young people we support, we would like to thank him from the bottom of our hearts.”
Nick has raised £3,500 for Teens Unite, which will contribute to their efforts in improving the lives of young people fighting cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
