Herts Chamber member, the SEC Group has completed an extensive expansion and fit-out project at its own offices in Stevenage to accommodate future growth, working culture and a showroom environment for its clients.
The SEC Group was formed in 1998, which has been based at its Hertfordshire head office since 2005. The group has grown to have a turnover in excess of £12,000,000 and employs over thirty people.
The extensive expansion commenced in early 2018 with the installation of a mezzanine floor to extend an existing first floor office space. This has created capacity for eighteen employees in addition to the twelve who occupy the newly refurbished, existing office space.
By further utilising the height available in the property, the vibrant head office spacenow has a downstairs area dedicated to meeting spaces and a staff breakout area. The first floor area has a new Design Hub space, individual focus zones as well as hot-desking and co-working booths to boost collaboration, with all employees now based on the same floor.
“Our former office space was neither keeping pace with our own growth across both of our companies or the change in expectation for a variety of working environments by the modern workforce” commented Russell Coleman, Sales Director.
“Furthermore, neither was it a measure of the products designed and manufactured to meet these requirements and create such spaces.
“We really feel that we have taken a ‘practice what you preach’ approach to our new space and used our experience and knowledge to produce an overall workplace that is reflective of that which we have been offering our clients for a number of years now.
“By adopting and applying these design and workplace behavioural principles we believe we’ll be able to showcase the positive effect of good office design to our clients in real life rather than just through plans, visuals, reference to studies and rhetoric.”
During the full office refurbishment, the SEC Group took the opportunity to create a space that would act a showroom for its clients, displaying how different furniture and finishes can be used, and how they work in the real world, such a sit-stand desks and booth furniture.
The SEC Group is looking forward to welcoming Chamber members, clients, suppliers and associates, new and old, to their offices which now reflect the quality of award winning projects they deliver in its Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire heartland.
