Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a pre-event networking lunch between 11.30am and 1.30pm, at the taste of Dacorum, popular business Showcase at Shendish Manor on July 11th, bringing together businesses from across the borough for a lunch made from local produce.
Shendish Manor’s head chef Catalin Nastase is preparing a ploughman’s style lunch including locally-reared pork, salami, chutney, salad, scotch eggs, cheese, chocolates and truffles as well as local beer.
The aim is to publicise what food and drink is produced in Dacorum and to encourage and help local people who want to buy locally. Local food producers, farmers, fruit and vegetable growers and retailers from across Dacorum hope to impress local food outlets and buyers with samples of local produce.
Hotels, restaurants, delicatessens and shops from the area will be able to sample a wide range of local produce all under one roof and to discover for themselves what food and drink is produced in Dacorum.
Dacorum Borough Council, which hosts the Showcase from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, is hoping the event will increase the number of business opportunities in the local supply chain. A range of companies from different industry sectors will also be exhibiting at the Showcase and Hemel Business Buzz will be running FREE speed networking sessions throughout the afternoon.
Dacorum Local Food Initiative spokesperson Nicole Jackson said:
“We want local businesses to source as much food and drink locally as they can. We know it is not always practical for the them to source everything locally but even if they source just five per cent more, that would make a massive difference to the local economy.”
