It’s been a year since Radio Verulam joined the Herts Chamber of Commerce and we are delighted with the partnership. We have been attending fantastic events and meeting our fellow Chamber members. So now here’s a little bit about us.
We are the local community radio station for St Albans, a not for profit organisation run by volunteers. From getting local groups, people and businesses on air, to our coverage of local events and training our volunteers, our mission is to be a voice for the community in which we live. We transmit to around 150,000 local homes and worldwide online. The radio station started back in the 90s and has grown bigger and better every year.
On International Women’s Day this year we invited local business women including the Herts Chamber of Commerce on air to tell their inspirational stories followed by networking with tea and cakes. We get involved with all sorts of community activites from the Herts County Show to Christmas Light Switch Ons to Pancake Day races through St Albans city centre. We enjoy raising the profile of our fabulous city. If you have ever fancied yourself as the next Chris Evans, John Peel or John Humphrys, how about volunteering with us?
To stay on air, we raise money by fundraising , donations, sponsorship and advertising. You are our best supporters – as well as promoting and raising awareness of your business, you are actively supporting a community organisation – so from a corporate social responsibility stance this is a win – win.
