Aitchison Raffety was proud to be headline sponsor at this year’s Question of Sport event which raised more than £50,000 for St Albans charity, Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

Around 250 guests from businesses in and around St Albans, Hertfordshire, enjoyed Rennie Grove Hospice Care’s 7th annual Question of Sport charity dinner, set in the luxurious surroundings of Sopwell House, St Albans, at the end of February.

The event was sponsored by Aitchison Raffety, leading chartered surveyor and town planner, and hosted by Sky Sports presenter, St Albans resident and long-term Rennie Grove supporter, Geoff Shreeves.

In addition to the hotly contested sports quiz, the evening also included speeches from Mark Bunting, Group Director at Aitchison Raffety, and two nurses from the Rennie Grove Herts Hospice at Home team who talked about the care they give. This was followed by supporter, Dave Hilling, who spoke movingly about how Rennie Grove nurses cared for his father in the last weeks of his life. He emphasised how the charity depended on fundraising events such as Question of Sport.

A presentation to Close Brothers, the worthy winners of the hotly contested quiz, brought the evening to a close.

Tracey Hancock, Director of Fundraising at Rennie Grove, commented, “It was a fabulous event and we are delighted that a staggering £50,000 was raised during the evening to support the important services we provide for local adults and children. I would like to thank our sponsors and all those who came along and helped make the night such a success, as well as our wonderful speakers for inspiring everyone in the room. This sort of support from local businesses is so vital if we are to meet our fundraising targets every year and we are very grateful.”
