Chris Knight has joined award-winning law firm VWV as a Partner in the firm's Watford office.
Joining from Hewitsons, where he headed the Charities team for 13 years, Chris specialises in supporting charities, schools and social enterprises with governance issues and commercial challenges. He focuses especially on complex projects such as mergers, reviews and reorganisations. His clients have included research councils and institutions, RSPB (the UK's largest nature conservation charity) as well as many Oxford and Cambridge colleges.
At VWV, Chris will be focusing on developing the firm's charity and educational client base in the South East. In the current climate, he will also be supporting charities with the legal challenges posed by coronavirus, including around contract delivery, governance and funding.
Based across four offices in London, Watford, Bristol and Birmingham, VWV's Charities team acts for more than 1,000 charities, and is recognised by independent legal directories Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 as amongst the best in the UK. VWV has also been ranked in the top three legal firms for the UK's 350 leading charities by Charity Finance since 2014.
A Chair and Trustee of several charities, Chris has also worked on global good financial grant practices with Wellcome Trust, and supported the Charity Commission. When he's not busy advising clients, he can be found cycling, ultra-running or raising money for charity.
Partner Con Alexander, who leads VWV's Charities team, commented:
"We are delighted to welcome Chris into our team. We are convinced that his client base will complement VWV's recognised expertise in the charities sector, and that his impressive 25 years' experience will make a valuable contribution to the growth and future development of the firm."
