Broxbourne Borough Council are calling for all young people across Broxbourne to come together on Wednesday 7 August 2019, to celebrate Play Day – the national day for play.
Now in its 32nd annual year, Play Day provides an ideal opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate, play, and have fun. It also provides a platform for play advocates to promote the positive impact that playing has on children’s mental and physical health, wellbeing and general development.
This free event is organised by Broxbourne Council’s Community Development Team, and will take place at Cheshunt park from 12noon-4pm. It will host a range of traditional sports activities, arts and crafts, inflatable games and a wet play zone.
Play Day will be immediately followed by Skate Jam, the annual competition for local skateboarders, scooter and BMX riders, aged between 11 and 25. Prizes will be up for grabs, and ABC Skateboarding, one of the UK’s leading skateboarding schools, will be judging and giving tips to entrants.
The competition is free to enter and entry forms are available to pick up from Cheshunt Park Golf Club and available to download from the Council’s website. Young people under the age of eighteen will need parental consent to participate.
For further information on both events, members of the public can visit www.broxbourne.gov.uk/leisure, or contact the Community Development team on 01992 785555.
