The new Foodsmiles Local Food Outlet was officially opened by Brian Turner (Ready Steady Cook) on Sunday 3rd December, at Westmill Farm near Ware in Hertfordshire. This means local people will now be able to buy locally produced meat, fruit, vegetables, salad, bakery, dairy and drink produce.  As Brian explains “I’m thrilled that the new Foodsmiles Local Food Outlet will provide an opportunity for the people of Hertfordshire and North London, to buy the freshest quality local food, in keeping with the seasons.”

All Foodsmiles produce is labelled with the actual farmer/grower and location information, and is sourced as locally as possible.  People can find more about the traceability of their food at:

“We are pleased with the customer’s response so far, demand for local food is ever-growing” said Mark Harrison, Foodsmiles Managing Director.  “Our retail prices are extremely competitive with supermarkets because we source directly from local farmer and growers.”   Foodsmiles Director Roger Moore goes on to explain “It makes good business sense for everybody, while bringing huge benefit to the environment by reducing food miles and packaging.  Local food is excellent quality, available all year round, nutritious and affordable!”

The Local Food Outlet will be open Tuesday-Saturday 9am-7pm and Sunday 10am-2pm, ideally located half a mile north of Hertford, on the A602, just one minute from the A10.   People of Hertfordshire and North London can order local produce for home delivery, by calling Foodsmiles on 0845 25 76453/SMILE and find out much more by going online at
