The recent Buncefield Explosion has confirmed beyond doubt the importance of an effective business voice in Hemel Hempstead, one that reaches beyond the Maylands Avenue area. Despite playing a full and active role in the subsequent “fall out” from the explosion it has become clear to us that we need to establish a group of local business people that will articulate these issues and liaise on behalf of the wider business community with the full range of stakeholders involved in the development of the area. In doing so we are concerned to ensure that the Chamber’s own range of business support addresses local needs.

To help us move forward, and to ensure that we achieve our aims i.e. lobbying local and regional government on local issues, Tim Hutchings, Chief Executive of Herts Chamber, is delighted to announce that we have established a Dacorum Chamber Council, which will comprise local business people under the Chairmanship of John Hope of Ashfield Personnel.

HCCI’s Dacorum Chamber Council will be launched on 12th July at Dacorum Civic Centre at a breakfast meeting. Our host, Dacorum Borough Council Chief Executive Danniel Zammitt, will also be in attendance and will discuss the authorities plans for the area.

The Chamber Council will be owned by local businesses who will have an on-going opportunity to input into issues that affect or concern them, it is important that local business people lend their support.
