Kelvin Hughes, a world leader in the design and supply of navigation and surveillance systems, is delighted to announce that it was named Employer of the Year at the Celebration of Success Awards held on 9th October at Hertfordshire Regional College.
The award was made in recognition of the local training initiatives launched by the company since it moved its Head Office in Enfield in 2012. These include the new Kelvin Hughes Apprenticeship Academy which was established earlier this year and is being run in partnership with Hertfordshire Regional College and other local educational institutions.
The company has also worked with the college to develop a Level 3 Award in Customer Service and development, accredited by the Institute of Learning and Management (ILM). 16 employees within the Group have now obtained this qualification.
Kelvin Hughes’ Human Resources Manager, Margaret Bundy, commented: “I am extremely proud of our projects working with Hertford Regional College and am very excited about the seven new Apprenticeships positions we have available at the Kelvin Hughes. We’re continuing to work with the excellent people at the college on delivering these and the course modules that support them. With an eye to the future we plan to develop new training modules with them to support other areas of the Kelvin Hughes Academy”.
Andy Forbes Chief Executive and Principal of Hertford Regional College added: “My congratulations to Kelvin Hughes on winning the Employer of the Year award. It was well deserved. In just a few year, they have done a considerable amount to help develop the skillsets and the employability of young people in the local area”.
