On Friday 4th March, Aubrey Park Hotel hosted an Auction of Promises to raise money for Sunnyside Rural Trust, a local horticultural organisation offering trainees with learning difficulties exciting work experience, activities and support.
By 19:30 the upper bar in the hotel was buzzing with live music, eager bidders and plenty of wine and food to go around. There were 32 experiences ready to be auctioned off, with the well-established auctioneer Adrian Cole was preparing in the Garden Room, for what would turn out to be a fantastic evening.
Total money raised from the tickets, raffle and the donated items was £3,100. They couldn’t have done this without the generosity of local businesses such as Trustipet, The Grove and Waterways Experiences to name just a few.
The independent hotel’s Marketing Executive, Ruth Hall organised the Auction of Promises with Maggie Grand, the Publicity & Fundraising Officer from Sunnyside Rural Trust. Ruth explains her feelings about working with the trust, ‘We’re so humbled to run this charity event for such an incredible organisation that truly empowers people to fulfil their potential for their own benefit and for the benefit of the wider community and environment,’.
The money raised will be used towards the trust’s transport needs. The charity works with more than 120 local people with learning disabilities, the majority of whom would not be able to attend if it wasn’t for transport to and from their home or supported living accommodation.
And with a few final words from Maggie, ‘Thank you to everyone at the Aubrey Park Hotel, you were so generous in your support and brilliant to work with. Thank you Adrian for being our Auctioneer and encouraging people to bid. Thank you Mark and Jimmy for the music and to all the wonderful people and organisations who donated the items we auctioned. Finally, thank you for coming and bidding!’
