As part of their fundraising activities in support of their designated charity, Herts Young Homeless, leading regional accountancy firm Hillier Hopkins LLP are handing over a cheque for £10,157 and a Starter Pack for a homeless person. This incredible amount was raised at the St George’s Day Luncheon held on Thursday 21st April 2016 at Watford Football Club and attended by almost 200 members of the firm, their clients and guests.
The charity luncheon featured high profile entertainment with comedian Ian Richards and guest speaker Roger Dakin, former England Hockey goalkeeper. However the star of the event was Anna, who Herts Young Homeless has helped and has now become a trustee of the charity and plays an active role as a volunteer. Her account of her heart breaking story and her determination to overcome her traumatic experience, resulted in quite a few tears and probably greater generosity in the subsequent charity auction.
Helen Elliot, CEO of Herts Young Homeless, said “Thank you to everyone at Hillier Hopkins for choosing Hyh to be the recipients of your St George’s Day fundraising event. Your incredible team organised such an amazing occasion that raised over £10,000! For a local charity such as ours your remarkable fundraising efforts will make a real difference giving the young, vulnerable and homeless the support, help and guidance they desperately need. Such an incredible amount will fund an entire package of Advice, Crashpad, Mediation and Floating Support for ten 16 year olds who have been made homeless. However, you didn’t just stop there! Not content with giving us a life changing cheque, you also put together a wonderful starter pack of essentials. This was given out within 24 hours of your visit to a very grateful young client who was moving into a hostel and had literally nothing of her own. So, both on her behalf and the rest of the young people we support, we send a massive vote of thanks to the wonderful team at Hillier Hopkins, your clients and supporters for making such a difference”
Grant Franklin, Managing Principal of Hillier Hopkins, added “We are delighted to be able to help this great local charity continue its work which makes such a positive difference to people’s lives. This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible generosity of the clients and friends of Hillier Hopkins”.
