Local businesses are being offered a free online marketing opportunity to reach new customers thanks to the recently launched Hertfordshire eMarketplace.

The eMarketplace offers a wide range of products and services including homecare, equipment for easier living, traders offering home maintenance services such as gardeners, handyman or builders, residential care as well as voluntary services including information, advice and carers support.Already many traders have taken up the eMarketplace opportunity but there is still room for more to broaden the range of services on offer.

As well as promoting a business, the website can generate potential new business leads by giving customers the opportunity to make online enquiries.

There are opportunities now for businesses to join eMarketplace in the following categories:
• suppliers of equipment for easier living
• gardening
• home maintenance
• hairdressing
• ironing
• cleaning services
• financial services

The Hertfordshire eMarketplace is a ground breaking joint venture between Hertfordshire County Council and its adult social care partner Serco.
It gives customers a choice of suppliers as well as some free services, like advocacy and information services.

Colette Wyatt-Lowe, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Health, said: “This is a great free marketing opportunity for local businesses of any size to reach a new group of customers.
“The website is designed so that customers can access and buy social care support, equipment and trades from all kinds of organisations in one place, at a time that suits them.”

Trading Standards, which vets traders and equipment suppliers joining the eMarketplace, will initially support up to 50 traders to join on a first come first served basis.
