Commenting on the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills' proposals to offer seven and a half million training places, David Frost, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, said:

"This is a good first step as we need to get the large number of British unemployed off the dole and back into work.
"The announcement today, however, is only half the solution. Unless the welfare system is reformed to give an incentive to the young unemployed to enter the world of work, then any attempt to get people back into employment won't work and companies will continue to employ migrant workers."
