A new series of circular walks through beautiful green spaces and out into the countryside surrounding Elstree and Borehamwood were launched on Thursday 27th August. Deputy Mayor, Cllr Peter Rutledge, joined volunteers and members of the public on a 3 mile walk to celebrate the launch.

Countryside Management Service, working on behalf of Hertsmere Borough Council, have developed these new walks. The walks are waymarked and accompanied by colourful maps so you can explore the Countryside on Your Doorstep at your leisure. They feature a variety of lengths so you can build up the distances you walk in stages.

Three different leaflets are available. Tykes Water and Beyond route follows a scenic green corridor alongside a brook through Aberford, Leeming, Brook Meadow and Haggerstone Parks. It then branches out into open countryside before looping back through Thirskcliffe Nature Park and Aycliffe Park.  The other leaflets, entitled Parkfields and Beyond and Composers Park and Beyond explore the Elstree parks but also offer forays into the wider countryside. You can download the Countryside on Your Doorstep leaflets from www.hertslink.org/cms/getactive or pick up a copy from the local library or council offices.

Join CMS on Sunday 25th October on a guided walk on the Parkfields and Beyond route. For more details of the guided walks visit the Walks and More website: www.hertsdirect.org/walksandmore or telephone 01992 588433.
