Hertford-based Cariad Marketing has scooped a national award for being one of the country’s top SME employers.
The digital marketing agency picked up the prestigious Working Mums Top Employer award at a ceremony at London’s Soho Hotel. The awards, which are now in their sixth year, are designed to recognise companies which are progressive in their flexible working practices and proactive in seeking to retain talented staff, particularly working parents who want to combine successful careers with being a parent.
After picking up her award in the SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprise) category, a delighted Justine Perry, Managing Director of Cariad Marketing, said: “I was absolutely thrilled to receive this award in front of such a distinguished audience. We may be a relatively small company but we have always prided ourselves on our progressive outlook towards employment. Staff training and development is very important to us as are flexible working practices. As a mum myself I know how vitally important it is that staff can combine a successful career with a great family life.”
The judges said they had chosen Cariad as the overall SME winner because the company had submitted a “strong entry which showed an environment that facilitates people working in different ways”. They were particularity impressed with Cariad’s approach to apprenticeships, training and community engagement.
Other finalists at the event included the Ministry of Justice, Vodafone, The London School of Economics and Political Science, Barclays, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, WH Smith Retail Holdings Ltd, Centrica plc and The Royal School of Veterinary Studies. The keynote speakers were John Edmonds, former president of the TUC and gender expert Eva Tutchell author of the book ‘Man Made, Why So Few Women Are In Positions of Power’.
Cariad Marketing, which is based in Cowbridge, employs 13 members of staff and provides digital marketing services including Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), social media and online marketing campaigns.
