Dacorum Borough Council is urging business leaders and residents to have their say on the future growth of the borough.

The council is launching its initial consultation on the new Local Plan on Wednesday 1 November.

The consultation focusses on the ‘Issues and Options’ report which looks at the challenges the borough is facing to 2036, and how these could be addressed.

A key role of the Local Plan is to establish the amount and location of new development in Dacorum over the next 20 years and to set out the council’s approach to:

  • How towns and villages might need to change to help accommodate new homes and jobs;
  • The future role of the area’s Green Belt;
  • How the council intends to protect and enhance the built and natural environment;
  • How infrastructure needs (such as schools, GP surgeries and roads) will be met; and
  • How the local economy and town centres will be supported
