A new initiative led by Hertfordshire County Council is laying the foundations for small and medium-sized firms to engage with public sector construction companies.
Build Hertfordshire is a network established by the county council involving construction companies, subcontractors and business support organisations. It will inform firms on what they need to do to find out about potential projects and to meet the requirements of the main contractors.
It will be launched at the Fielder Centre at Hatfield Business Park from 3pm on Tuesday, March 10, with a Construction Marketplace event including speeches, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
David Lloyd, Deputy Leader of Hertfordshire County Council, will be giving the keynote speech. He said: "Small and medium sized businesses are vital to the prosperity of our county and we want to make sure that they are best placed to take advantage of the many opportunities in construction coming their way.
"We want to help them to help themselves by being aware of potential clients who may prove to be the lifeblood of their business in the future."
The free event on March 10 is an opportunity for businesses to:
● find out about potential projects in the area;
● meet contractors who will be leading projects;
● find out what requirements they must meet to increase their chances of working for the contractors;
● meet a range of business support organisations which can assist them in meeting those requirements.
There will also be an opportunity to register on the Build Hertfordshire website at www.buildhertfordshire.co.uk, where business representatives will be able to complete a subcontractor primary questionnaire and view and respond to advertised work opportunities.
Anyone who would like to attend should email email@example.com with names of delegates and anticipated time of arrival. Businesses which would like more information should call Gary Burton on 01992 588728.
