The University of Hertfordshire School of Law is delighted to welcome The Rt. Hon Lord McNally to deliver the 2014 Annual Law Lecture.

Mediation: New dawn or missed opportunity?

In this lecture Lord McNally will reflect on changes over recent years to government policy, the law and legal aid and whether Mediators, Lawyers and the public have grasped the new opportunities to promote mediation as a less stressful, cheaper and more effective way of settling disputes than going to Law.

About the speaker

Lord McNally is Chairman of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales. He was Minister of State for Justice and Deputy Leader of the House of Lords 2010 -2013 and Liberal Democrat Leader of the House of Lords 2004-13. He was Member of Parliament for Stockport South 1979 -83. He was educated at University College London and received a B.Sc. (Econ) 1966 and was made a Fellow in 1995.

Lord McNally is a member of the University of Hertfordshire Court and in 2010 was granted an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.
