Creative Industries Summit

This is the fourth event in a series of new online Summits that Herts Chamber have created, designed to focus on key industries within Hertfordshire and provide a platform for sharing information, ideas and latest thinking.

The focus of this Summit is the Creative Industries, one of the most high profile and key business sectors within Hertfordshire.

During this summit we will hear two keynote presentations, delivered by our partners for the event:

  • Roger Morris, Managing Director, Elstree Studios

Roger has been in the film and television industry for over 40 years. He studied film at the London Film School and Physics at Sussex University. Roger has worked as a Producer and Director and produced the very first programme for Channel 4.  He also won the ITVA Award for his work.

Roger’s mission at Elstree Studios has been to make Elstree Studios the most popular, economical and practical studio in the UK for the production of feature films.

  • Sarah Roots, Executive Vice President Worldwide Tours and Retail, Warner Bros

In October 2010 Sarah joined the company before construction started on Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter and has seen the project from conception through to the Grand Opening on 31 March 2012.

Sarah is also a member of the Department of Culture, Media & Tourism Visitor Economy Working Group and takes an active role in the development of tourism and culture

These presentations will highlight some of the key issues that the Creative Sector faces, in particular those introduced by COVID-19 in the last six months, and how they have confronted these challenges. They will be followed by a panel session in which these subjects will be discussed in more depth.

In addition to the above keynote speakers, panellists include:

  • Denise Austin and Simon Mercer, Directors, Pearldrop Video Production
  • David Conway, Chief Financial and Operations Officer, ITN
  • Nic Cornwall, Owner and Director, Little Big Fish Films
