John Humphreys has a long history with agriculture – as son of a Shropshire dairy farmer, was educated in Shropshire before going to Shuttleworth Agricultural College (1967 – 1969) and worked for Romandale Farms in Ontario, Canada (1968).
He joined the family Agricultural Engineering business, A.T.Oliver and Sons Ltd, in August 1969 as the sixth generation of the family firm. He later became a Director and eventually joint Managing Director with Antony Oliver. He retired in October 2017 from day to day involvement with trading businesses but remains a Director of ATO Holdings Ltd, the Parent Company.
John will be speaking about Olivers' involvement with the Hertfordshire Agricultural Society (HAS) and the Hertfordshire Show. He will also be discussing how the company has taken advantage of its location to diversify their products and offerings.
Kevin White started his Hertfordshire Agricultural Society career in 1984, as both a steward and a cattle competitor. Since then he’s been nominated onto the Committee of Management and F&GP, stewarded the goat display and risen through the ranks to Senior Trade Steward. Having attended both Hobbs Hill Wood and Longdean School in Hemel Hempstead, Kevin is passionate about promoting ‘The Best of Hertfordshire’. When he’s not chairing HAS meetings, he is the Design and Sales Director of Blue Goose Interiors, a business he started in 2010 after 15 years studying and working on dairy farms, both locally and in Libya!
Kevin will be speaking about how the dynamics of the county has changed over the years and how the Hertfordshire Agricultural Society has been evolving alongside it, as well as his own involvement with the HAS.
