Responding to the UK Border Agency's changes to work permit policy, announced this morning, David Frost, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), said:

"Businesses have repeatedly told the Government that the interim migration cap isn't working - and will be pleased to see that ministers are making changes to help employers.

"The BCC has consistently argued that migration limits must avoid damaging our growth prospects.  While the Government and employers must work together in the long-term to train up the UK workforce, the Government's policy to date has limited business's ability to drive recovery.

“We must ensure that the UK remains a premier destination for foreign investment and top talent - and that requires more sensible migration arrangements going forward."
