The 2015 white water rafting season launches at Lee Valley White Water Centre on Saturday 28 February giving adventure-loving visitors the chance to confront the raging rapids at this London 2012 venue.

The centre in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire is within paddling distance of London and provides the perfect location to finally tackle white water rafting and tick it off the bucket list in 2015.

Simon Ricketts, Lee Valley White Water Centre Manager said: “White water rafting is always near the top of the list of things that people want to try and Lee Valley White Water Centre provides the ultimate experience.

“No matter what time of year you visit the quality and consistency of the white water rapids on both of our courses is guaranteed so there’s no better place to try this thrilling, challenging and heart racing experience.”

No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided, including wetsuits, boots, helmets and buoyancy aids. Participants are accompanied by an experienced raft guide who will take them through a safety briefing on the flat water lake before tackling the rapids.

Other exciting white water activities available at the centre include hydrospeeding, which is similar to bodyboarding but on the rapids and hot dog sessions, which are held on two person inflatables and provide a heart pumping introduction to kayaking on the rapids.

Since January 2014 Lee Valley White Water Centre has incorporated British Canoeing’s High Performance Centre which is the base for the British Canoe Slalom squad and all UK Sport funded Podium athletes who train regularly on the rapids.

The centre boasts a top of the range terrace barbeque and bar which are within splashing distance of the Olympic Standard Competition Course as well as a spacious indoor café area with views over the white water rapids as well as the beautiful River Lee Country Park.

Visitors to the area can extend their stay by staying locally at Lee Valley Caravan Park, Dobbs Weir which is surrounded by the picturesque and peaceful Hertfordshire countryside. For more information visit: www.visitleevalley.org.uk/wheretostay
