Local firm, Rayden Solicitors, held a quiz night in support of the Alzheimers Society on Thursday 26 January 2011 at the Old Albanians clubhouse. Over 100 people came together from local businesses to support the cause.

The Chambers very own quiz team 'The Chamber Pots' attended and came a very respectable 2nd place - much to their own surprise.

Hosted by Rosie Glow it was a quiz night with a twist. Guests were treated to a rendition of Asda in Poplar (to the tune of Copacabana) while enjoying their fish and chips. All guests soon got into the spirit by joining in with the chorus.

Several St Albans businesses donated prizes for the raffle including, Graphics Plus, Dixies Cupcakery, The Cookshop, Crabtree & Evelyn, Huttons and Champneys with the Saracens Rugby club donating 10 tickets to their March Aviva Cup match at Wembley in March. Over £800 was raised through raffle ticket sales alone and Barclays Bank kindly agreed to match the monies raised from the raffle up to £750 as part of the Barclays Community Investment 'Charity Begins at Work' Programme. This brings the amount raised through the raffle alone to a fantastic £1,550. The total amount raised is over £2,300.

Katherine Rayden, Senior Partner at Rayden Solicitors, commented “This was the first time Rayden Solicitors have held a charity fund raising event and we were overwhelmed by the support shown by local and London businesses. The amount raised will make a huge difference to the local Alzheimer's branch and we are delighted that we were able to help them in this way”.

The Alzheimers Society has been chosen by Rayden Solicitors as the charity of their year and is one close to the hearts of many employees at the firm. Over one in three adults over the age of 65 will die with dementia which is currently incurable and the Alzheimers Society not only research into the disease itself but also provide invaluable support to sufferers and their families.
