Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Charitable Fund, part of East and North Herts Hospitals Charity, was chosen back in January 2016 to be the Charity of the Year for the St Albans branch of PwC, one of the Patrons of Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce.  Already they have received just short of £3500. PwC staff have worked really hard to achieve this by taking part in some great events such as a poker night, a Bake Off competition and a Grand National sweepstake . Also, one particular member of staff did brilliantly in running a 10k in memory of her late Mother and raised a fantastic £1,477 towards the amount.  The other big fundraiser to contribute happened on 20th May; the annual One Firm One Day challenge.

One Firm One Day is PwC’s firmwide fundraising and volunteering event where staff across the UK are encouraged to join together and take part in giving something back to our local communities.

PwC raised £1,267.51 for Mount Vernon Cancer Care this year.  PwC St Albans ran a series of events throughout the day, including Sumo Wrestling, Cake Bake Off, FIFA Tournament, Badminton Tournament and Guess the Sweets.

Liz Hizli, Fundraiser at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre said, Being chosen as Charity of the Year by such a prestigious company will help boost our profile over the next year so that more people know about the great work carried out here at the cancer centre and for that we are most grateful and look forward to a strong partnership’.

Louise Hymers, South East Marketing Manager commented "PwC St Albans is delighted to support Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Charitable Fund as our office charity of the year.   So many of our staff have been touched by Cancer in one way or another, so to be able to give something back to this amazing Charity is both an honour and a privilege".

Many other events are planned for the rest of the year including a Pamper Evening and a Christmas Ball.
