NHC was awarded the IIP Gold Award for its organisation and people development practice in December 2010.

The IIP Gold Award is awarded to organisations demonstrating best practice in people management and development. Of the 25,000 organisations accredited by IIP, only 205 (0.8%) have achieved the Gold award to date – and only 27 are further education colleges like NHC.

In celebration of this success, NHC staff, stakeholders and local business people were invited to a breakfast networking event at NHC’s Indulge restaurant at the Centre for the Arts in Hitchin.

Bill Lucas, Co-Director of Real World Learning at the University of Winchester and prolific author, delivered a presentation on his award-winning book on:  rEvolution - the new rules of change.
Bill is an expert in lifelong learning, change, leadership and the operation of the mind, his latest books are: rEvolution; how to thrive in crazy times (winner of the Management Book of the Year Innovation & Entrepreneurship category) and New Kinds of Smart; how the science of learnable intelligence is changing education.

There was a fantastic and positive reaction to Bill’s presentation from everyone who attended the event.
Paul Rainbow, Senior Learning Development officer at Hertfordshire County Council, commented: “My colleague and I found it very useful and informative, top class event and a great breakfast.”
Cathryn Henry, Employer Services Manager for the National Apprenticeship Service, added: “I enjoyed myself immensely and found the presentations relevant to my current situation of change within my organisation.”
