Leading law firm, Longmores, is to launch a new Charitable Foundation to help worthy local causes across Hertfordshire and Essex.

The firm, which has offices in both Hertford and Harlow, hopes the initiative will enable it to focus its charitable efforts by supporting the good work of worthy causes close to home - particularly smaller and less well-known good causes that arguably are in greater need of financial support than many of the established and well-known national charities.

Richard Horwood, a partner and Head of Private Client Services with Longmores, is one of the Foundation’s trustees. He said: “We really want to emphasise our local connections with the areas where we work and live and to put something back by supporting local charities that make such a difference to our communities.

“The Longmores’ Charitable Foundation will organise regular fundraising events and we hope that local businesses and individuals alike will generously support our fundraising efforts which will benefit worthy causes.”

The Foundation will be officially launched at Longmore’s Quiz Night which will be held at Hertford Rugby Club on Wednesday 21st September.

The event, which begins at 7pm, will see teams of eight pit their wits against each other. Entry for the Quiz Night is £10 per person. All proceeds from the evening, which includes a raffle, will support the Foundation’s charitable efforts.

Local charities will soon be invited to apply for funding applications. For further information on Longmores’ Charitable Foundation or to reserve your place at the Quiz Night, contact Andy Todd on 01992 300333.
