Event: Virgin Money London Marathon

Twelve dedicated supporters represented Teens Unite in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon on 24th April 2016, raising a staggering total of over £22,000 for the Broxbourne-based charity.
 
Debbie Pezzani, CEO and Founder, Teens Unite has said: “It goes without saying that we are immensely proud of everyone who represented Teens Unite in the London Marathon this year. Taking on the challenge isn’t just about completing the race, it’s also months of commitment beforehand to complete the necessary training and fundraising. We are so grateful for everyone’s remarkable efforts.”
 
Representing Teens Unite locally this year was Joe Reemer, 29, Hertford, Michael Thomas, 28, Ware, Nathan Randall, 22, Broxbourne and Karen Preston, Broxbourne. They completed the tough 26.2 mile race route in the following times:
 
Joe Reemer – 04:07:45
Michael Thomas – 04.14.41
Nathan Randall – 05.13.56
Karen Preston – 03.58.46
 
The funding raised will contribute towards Teens Unite’s work in supporting young people fighting cancer by bringing them together to make new friends, rebuild their confidence and self-esteem and live the fullest life possible despite their illness. 
 
One of the runners, Nathan Randall has said: “I had an incredible experience running for Teens Unite in the 2016 London Marathon! It was such an overwhelming day and the support from all my friends and family was great. Having volunteered with Teens Unite on several occasions now, I know that all of the funds raised, will really make a difference to the incredible young people they support.”
 
Michael Thomas has said: “'Taking part in the London Marathon was a whirlwind experience. I’m so pleased I was able to run for Teens Unite; a cause based locally that makes such a big difference to teenagers and young adults fighting cancer. I’ve been involved with the charity for a few years now and seen the work of the charity first hand. Knowing the stories of some of the young people they support helped me to cross each mile.” 
 
The ballot for the Virgin Money London Marathon 2017 opens on 2nd May 2016.
