The Department of Health is keen to hear from any SMEs that have experience of providing goods or services to the Department on how easy it was to do business with the Department; and from any SMEs that wish to explore opportunities of working with the Department of Health.

Any suggestions on how to improve the existing procurement process are welcome. Please email any comments to the SME enquiries mail box smeenquiries@dh.gsi.gov.uk

Neil Griffiths, Deputy Director for Procurement Services and the newly appointed SME champion, said:

“The Department welcomes the role that SMEs play in meeting our diverse contract requirements and in delivering the benefits they bring.  As champion, I am keen to ensure the Department provides support to SMEs so they can access the opportunities to do business with us.”

As part of the commitment to maximise access for SME to contracting opportunities, the Department:

  • publishes contract opportunities in a timely way to give sufficient time for SMEs to participate.  Opportunities are advertised on Contracts Finder
  • has put in place a number of targeted actions and activities to support the SME programme.
