Commenting on the creation of an independent commission to review aviation capacity, John Longworth, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), said: “Business will be dismayed that the government has shied away from taking tough decisions on the airport capacity needed to grow exports and trade the world. By convening yet another review, and pushing any decisions into the next parliament, ministers are shying away from one of the key steps needed to build a new model economy, fit for the future. There was talk of ‘cutting through the dither’ when politicians returned from their summer break. Ducking the tough choices on aviation is not a good start.”
