If you've got unwanted IT equipment around the house bring it along to an IT Takeback event, organised by Hertfordshire's Waste Partnership.
The Takeback events, hosted by Hertfordshire Waste Partnership and EcoSystems I.T. Ltd. will take place across the county during September and October, and are aimed at reducing the impact of IT waste on the environment while helping people clear their homes and businesses of unwanted clutter for free.
None of the equipment will go to landfill, with 85 percent refurbished and reused and the remainder taken apart and recycled. All computer hard drives donated will be erased.
Derrick Ashley, Hertfordshire County Council's Executive Member for Waste and Chairman of Hertfordshire Waste Partnership said: "We all have IT equipment around the house that we no longer use and this is a great opportunity to get rid of it in a way that makes sure nothing goes to waste and makes sense for the environment."
There are events taking place across the county and business and residents alike are invited to donate their unwanted IT equipment, including computers and televisions.
Recycling your unwanted electrical items allows the valuable materials in them to be used to make new products and helps reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill.
These events offer a limited opportunity for both large and small businesses to dispose of unwanted IT equipment, without charge. Chris Littlewood, Managing Director for Ecosystems said: Ecosystems I.T. Ltd are delighted to be associated with this event. IT users are generally wary when disposing of unwanted equipment, our data destruction services guarantee peace of mind to businesses and the general public, and both sectors can be assured that our companies founding belief is that we recycle 85% of equipment for reuse, 15% is broken down into its base form with 0% going to landfill."
