East of England businesses are being encouraged to enter the Business in the Community’s annual Regional Awards aimed at recognising responsibility business practice in the East of England.

 

The Regional Awards 2008 are open to businesses operating or based in the East of England who integrate responsible business practice into their mainstream operations resulting in a positive impact in the marketplace, environment, community and workplace. 

 “We are aware that there is a tremendous amount of good work going on across this region that is not being recognised.  We would like to encourage all businesses, however large or small, with strong community, social or environmental policies and programmes to enter the Awards and receive the recognition they deserve.” said, Mike Brophy, Regional Director for Business in the Community East of England.

Business in the Community Eastern Region have created nine regional specific Awards which are only open to companies operating or based in the East of England who have a significant impact in this area.  These categories are:

 Individual Employee Volunteer Award – sponsored by Norwich UnionBusiness Volunteering Team Award – sponsored by awg plc

Pro Bono Company of the Year

Best Business in the Community (Large Company)

Best Business in the Community (Small Company)

Most Innovative New Programme Impacting on the East of England Award

Power in Partnership Award

Environmental Award – recognising the highest performing company in the East of England through the Regional Environmental Index – sponsored by EEDA

 Test Bed Award – recognising the most innovative company working with the criminal justice system to reduce re-offending – sponsored by NOMS 

Social Inclusion Award – sponsored by Go-East

 

Individual efforts will also be recognised with the Marks & Spencer Sieff Award for bringing businesses and communities together to benefit society and The Prince’s Ambassador Award for individuals who have created a positive impact both inside their company and on the wider society.
