Bcc: The Government Has To Show More Creative Thinking To Resolve Congestion Problem
16 July 2008 in Chamber News
Commenting on Ruth Kelly's announcement today that more hard shoulders will be opened up to help reduce congestion, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, David Frost, said:"With the financial impact of congestion now costing UK businesses over £17 billion, opening up more hard shoulders is a positive move. However, this cannot be the long term solution to solving a major congestion problem on a decrepit road network."We need extra capacity and that means improving road infrastructure. The Government has to show a bit more creative thinking on this issue, backing it up with a genuine ambition to resolve what is a worsening situation."
